Four-time Olympic medallist and British gymnast Louis Smith MBE was the guest of honour at the latest Ipswich Sporting Lunch Club, held in Ipswich today.
The Club, co-sponsored by Pound Gates, raises vital funds to help talented young sportsmen and women from Suffolk reach their potential through SportsAid grants.
Smith, one of Team GB’s most decorated gymnasts and familiar face beyond sport thanks to appearances on Strictly Come Dancing and The Masked Dancer, captivated the audience with stories from his career – from Olympic highs to life after elite competition.

During the event, Smith presented a SportsAid grant to Suffolk triathlete Darcy Gladwell to help her with the cost of training and competing at an elite level. Darcy was named SportsAid Eastern’s Athlete of the Month in August 2023, and her drive and ambition have already seen her achieve success across multiple disciplines.
The lunch continued the proud tradition of bringing the local business community together to support the next generation of sporting talent in Suffolk.
