As good citizens our staff do good things for a range of different causes. This may be as school governors, sports coaches for children, public service roles, charity trustees and volunteers and many other things.
In addition, we regularly have corporate causes that we seek to leverage our combined resources to support. We are well connected with charities through Suffolk business networks and support a range of different charities and causes in different ways.
These may include:
- Financial support through fundraising events and grants
- Volunteering time and practical help
- Sharing professional expertise, mentoring and advice
- Making introductions and helping charities build connections
Inspire
During 2026 we are supporting this Ipswich based charity. Inspire is focussed on supporting young people to help them learn new skills and develop confidence. As well as raising funds through our Quiz and Golf Day we will be helping by becoming directly involved in delivering benefits in accordance the charity’s purpose.

Acorn Fund with Suffolk Community Foundation
A community foundation is a vehicle for charitable giving. Community foundations work with individuals, families and companies to design bespoke grant making strategies that target particular issues or focus on particular geographic areas. There are 48 accredited community foundations in the UK.
We established our Acorn Fund in 2013.

Our funding priorities cover a broad spectrum of health and wellbeing initiatives. We especially support projects that help individuals of all ages and abilities, including those with disabilities or mental health / stress-related conditions, engage more fully in active and healthy lifestyles.
Our people are involved in every stage of our charitable efforts. From selecting which projects to fund through staff votes to participating in fundraising and visiting the projects we support. Our staff’s engagement is key to our approach.

You can learn more about Suffolk Community Foundation by visiting: https://www.suffolkcf.org.uk/. Since we awarded our first grant in October 2013 we have distributed over £60,000 to 41 great causes, positively impacting the lives of over 7,000 people. You can read the latest impact report here, and more about the causes we have supported here.
Ipswich Sporting Lunch Club
In 2015, we proudly helped establish and continue to co-sponsor the Ipswich Sporting Lunch Club, a SportsAid initiative. The club plays an important role in raising funds for young Suffolk athletes aspiring to compete at Olympic, Paralympic, Commonwealth and European levels. To date, funds raised from lunches have supported over 90 young athletes towards their sporting ambitions.

The Soma Leo Foundation – a 10 year legacy

Our Doing Good story also includes The Soma Leo Foundation, a charity providing education to primary-aged children in Western Kenya. Launched in 2015, the charity was supported and overseen by us for ten years, with the funding and hands-on involvement needed to run the school. This was a sustained commitment that played a central role in its development and impact.
While our current focus is now local, The Soma Leo Foundation remains an important part of our history. Its story and impact are shared on this dedicated page.
